Car2Go (www.car2go.com) and Enjoy (www.enjoy.eni.com) are the two largest car sharing services in Italy. Both are easy to use and provide access to hundreds of vehicles in Rome, Milan, Turin and Florence. Registration is online and requires a passport and driver’s license. Once the apps are downloaded you can locate and rent cars for as little or as long as you like whenever you like. You’re also free to enter limited traffic zones (ZTL), are exempt from parking fees and don’t pay for gas.
Car sharing is a practical way of getting around cities and costs less than a taxi. Car2Go operates a fleet of white two-seat Smart cars while Enjoy uses red FIAT 500s that seat four. Having a car at your disposal without the hassle of traditional renting is liberating and the easiest way to set off on day trips beyond the urban limits.
